Step 2: Examination

• Examine the entire skin surface including scalp, mouth, eyes, nails, and genitals.
• You may find lesions related to the presenting complaint or discover unrelated but important findings.

• 

  Examine the entire skin surface, including the scalp, as well as hair.

• 

  Look at the feet, including the web spaces in between the toes.

• 

  Oral mucosal findings may aid in diagnosis.
